Frequently asked questions

How do I see my notes on both my iPhone and iPad?

Use the same Apple Account on both devices and turn on iCloud. If Linen Notes says “Notes are kept on this device. You can enable iCloud.”, tap Enable iCloud and confirm.

What do “Saved on this iPhone” and “Uploaded to iCloud” mean?

“Saved on this iPhone” means your note is safe on this device. “Uploaded to iCloud” means it is in iCloud too. Your other devices may take a moment to show it.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Your notes are always saved on your device first, and go to iCloud when you are back online.

How do I get back a deleted note?

Tap the More button (…) at the top of the notes list, then Recently Deleted. Open the note and tap Restore note. Deleted notes stay there until you restore them or delete them permanently. They are never removed automatically.

How do I go back to an earlier version of a note?

Open the note and tap the Earlier versions button (a clock with an arrow) at the top. Earlier versions are only on the device where you made the changes.

How do I make a backup of my notes?

Tap the More button (…) in the notes list, then Export all notes. You get a folder with your notes and photos. Save it in the Files app or anywhere you like. You can open it even without Linen Notes.

The app says sync is paused. Are my notes safe?

Yes, your notes are safe on your device. The message tells you what to do, for example update Linen Notes from the App Store or free up iCloud storage. If the message doesn’t go away, write to us.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Linen Notes is free.

Which languages does it support?

All 24 official languages of the European Union. The app uses the language of your device.
