Privacy policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
- Linen Notes has no ads and does not track you. You don’t need to create an account.
- Your notes and photos are kept on your iPhone or iPad. If you turn on iCloud, they are also kept in your own iCloud account.
- The developer can’t read your notes.
- The app never sends your notes or photos to us.
Who we are
Linen Notes is made by Márton Velczenbach, an independent developer. If you have a question about your privacy, write to hello@meetlinen.eu.
Your notes stay on your device
Everything you create in Linen Notes is kept inside the app on your iPhone or iPad: your notes, tags and photos, earlier versions of your notes, and the notes in Recently Deleted. If your device has a passcode, it protects them.
iCloud (if you turn it on)
If you turn on iCloud in Linen Notes, your notes, tags and photos are also saved in your own iCloud account. This way they appear on your other devices that use the same Apple Account. Only your devices signed in to that Apple Account can read them; the developer cannot. Apple looks after this data under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Earlier versions of your notes are not saved in iCloud. They stay on the device where you made them.
When you delete a note permanently, its text and photos are deleted from iCloud too. A small, empty marker stays behind so that your other devices know the note is gone and don’t bring it back.
Web editor (if you use it)
At app.meetlinen.eu you can read and edit your notes in a web browser, for example on a Windows computer. It shows the notes you keep in iCloud.
You sign in with Apple, in a window from Apple. We never see your password. If you tick “Stay signed in on this browser”, your browser remembers your sign-in after you close it, until you sign out or the sign-in expires, and anyone using this browser can open your notes. Otherwise it is kept only for that tab.
Your notes and photos go straight between your browser and your iCloud. They never pass through our servers, and we cannot see them.
If your internet connection drops while you are typing, the editor keeps the text you haven’t saved yet in your browser, so it isn’t lost. On a shared computer, tick “This is a shared computer” when you sign in: then that text is kept only until you close the tab. Signing out always removes it.
The web editor doesn’t work if Advanced Data Protection is turned on for your Apple Account, because Apple doesn’t allow web sign-in for it.
Photos
You choose each photo yourself. Linen Notes only gets the photos you pick and never sees the rest of your photo library. It keeps its own copy, so your note stays complete even if you delete the photo from your library.
Export
Export all notes makes a copy of your notes and photos and saves it where you choose, for example in the Files app. The copy is not sent anywhere.
What we don’t collect
Linen Notes has no ads, no tracking and no statistics about how you use it. It contains no code from other companies. It doesn’t use your location, contacts, microphone or camera.
If you allowed your iPhone to share data with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers), Apple may send us crash reports and usage statistics. They don’t show who you are, and you can turn this off at any time.
When you email us
We get your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you, never share them, and delete them when we no longer need them.
This website and the web editor
They use no cookies, no statistics and no tracking. Apart from Apple’s sign-in and iCloud in the web editor, they load nothing from other companies. Both are hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, records technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and keep them safe.
Deleting your data
- When you delete a note, it goes to Recently Deleted. From there you can restore it or delete it permanently.
- If you remove the app, its data is deleted from that device.
- In the web editor, signing out removes unsaved text from the browser. You can also clear the site’s data in your browser settings.
- Your notes stay in iCloud until you delete them in the app, or until you remove the Linen Notes data from iCloud in your iPhone’s Settings.
Your rights
Under EU law (GDPR) you can ask what personal data we have about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice, the only personal data we have is the emails you send us. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
